Hello, I'm Lucy, aged 13 years old and I live on Dartmoor, in Devon. This is a blog about my hamsters, what they get up to, helpfull tips on hamster care, and (hopefully) following the life of some baby hamsters as the grow up. I have had many hamsters before, and even had a taste of breeding them. I love my hamsters and try my very best to give them the best life possible, and I truely belive they love me in return.

Meet Honey
Honey is a gorgeous, very big longhaired golden rex female Syrain hamster of a very solid and chunky build. Born in the 26th May 2010 she has the sweetest temprement (as the name suggests) and has never bitten or tried to escape from my hands. She is lively, but will often just freeze and let you pet her as much as you want. Honey has some rather pretty skirts (tufts of hair on their behind) that are very thick and long for a female (Longhaired males genrally have longer hair than longhaired females) She lives in a huge cage, called a 'Zoozone 1'. Zoozones are fantastic plastic tank style cages designed for rabbits and guinea pigs but they also make great homes for hamsters - ensuring you fasten wire mesh to the top grid, as the spacing is so wide even the largest of hamsters can squeeze out. Honey loves her cage, although she does like to chew the bars in the night, which is a real nuisance, as you can imagine! Honey is hoped to have a litter with my LH black banded boy named Midnight sometime in the near future, and, quite frankly, I can't wait!
